Meet Beth Grote, Medical Massage Therapist
I had my first massage at age 27 when rehab from a back injury introduced me to the magic of massage. I thought, “I want to make people feel like this!” and planned to become a massage therapist.
However, starting a family sidetracked me.
I also got used to living with a certain level of chronic pain because that’s part of life, right?
I didn’t know how wrong that way of thinking was. I wasted years by being less active because pain drove my life choices.
I skipped family camping, canoe trips, and many other activities because I was afraid I’d hurt more afterward.
A spinal fusion helped the chronic pain but I lived with deep patterns of holding tension in specific muscle areas.
When I was 58 I finally got another massage and realized that I still wanted to make people feel like this. I went back to school and now, as a massage therapist, I see the positive results that regular massage brings to my clients’ lives.
Massage eases pain, decreases stress, increases feel-good brain chemicals, keeps you more flexible, increases quality of life, decreases depression, and so much more. It literally makes you feel better physically and emotionally. I get regular massages because I know I need them. It’s a healthy life choice to which I’ve committed for quality of life. Being a massage therapist is deeply rewarding work. There is something intensely soul-satisfying knowing that I’m doing exactly what I’m designed to do right now in this stage of life.

Beth’s massages are incredible.
Beth’s massages are incredible. I am very active and frequently have different issues when I go to see her for a massage. She uses multiple techniques and modalities to get to where the problem is and help resolve it. I always feel much better after a massage from Beth. I couldn’t recommend her more highly.
An integral part of my recovery program
Having Beth work on me regularly has changed how I think of massage. I used to think of massage as an indulgent luxury that was what you shelled out for when you really need to relax. It is certainly relaxing, but now I think of it as an integral part of my recovery program. I am fortunate enough to be able to have Beth work on me at least a couple times a month, and it has dramatically leveled up my workout recovery. I build it into my workout program for the week and do the workout for the week that will generate the most DOMS the day of or day before getting worked on. It took me a while to fully appreciate what a difference it makes. Eventually, I noticed that I wasn’t beat up on a weekly basis. I still get sore, but it is not nearly as debilitating and lingering as it used to be. If I miss a month, I can definitely feel it. I try not to miss a month. Budget the time and money for 2-4 massages a month, try it for a quarter, and see how you feel. You won’t be disappointed.
Overall my recovery has sped up since starting with her and my pain dramatically reduced!
Finding Beth after a few prior massage therapists has been a game changer in my recovery after an auto accident caused muscle pain in my neck and back. I was immediately comfortable with her upon our first appointment and I trust her ability to vary her approach based on what she feels I need that day. I am impressed by her passion for massage and dedication to continued coursework and practice in many different techniques. Overall my recovery has sped up since starting with her and my pain dramatically reduced!
CranioSacral Therapy completely eliminated the pain
I originally saw Beth for persistent neck and jaw pain. Several sessions of CranioSacral Therapy completely eliminated the pain. I now go once or twice a month for CranioSacral and find it deeply relaxing and mentally uplifting. My pain hasn’t returned. Beth seems to intuitively know what I need each time. I highly recommend her.
